Meeting Minutes

April 15, 2015

10:00 am – 11:00 am

Child Nutrition Conference Room

 

Opening

The regular meeting of the Harlandale School Health Advisory Council was called to order at 10:00 am on April 15, 2015 in the Child Nutrition Conference room by Dorothea Armstrong.

Present

SHAC campus reps, some outside collaborative entities

Approval of Agenda

Agenda was introduced by Dorothea Armstrong and the minutes were not approved due to Chairs’ absence. Minutes have not been approved since June 2014.

Approval of Minutes

This was held off until the next meeting. (See note above.)

Introductions

Ø  New Event geared at MS and HS aged Children

Open Issues

Ø  SHAC members and their importance in deciding what will work in our schools

Ø  USBs their use and different programs being implemented into the schools

Ø  Data collection as pertaining to the grant

 

New Business

Ø  Talked about Strength and Conditioning and Zumba community initiatives

Ø  Discussed upcoming community event to be held on May 6,th 2015

Ø  New Curriculum to be approved for Middle School Aged Children

Ø  New Technology being provided to students this year via the PEP Grant

Ø  Coaches expressed concerns about events incorporating Health and Wellness at their campuses

Ø  Discussed the importance of PTA in relation to SHAC

Ø  Direction that the group would like to take

Ø  Training requested for CATCH curriculum by Coaches

 

Motions

Ø  There was a motion to move the next meeting to June 3rd by Mickey Maxwell and Bryanna seconded the motion. The rationale is that Ms. Armstrong will be out of town for the previously scheduled meeting

Adjournment

Meeting was adjourned at 11:00 am by Dorothea Armstrong. The next general meeting will be at 10am-11 am on June 3, 2015, at Child Nutrition.
