Related Services & Providers

The support of Adapted Physical Education (APE), Auditory Impaired (AI), Occupational Therapy (OT), Physical Therapy (PT), and Visually Impaired (VI) are services these specialist provide district wide, they are not designated to any campus.  

Adaptive Physical Education Teacher

Assistsinstructional staff in the attainment of the district goals in adaptivephysical education based on the physical and motor capabilities andlimitations of students with disabilities.

Teacher of the Auditory Impaired

Providesdirect, monitoring/consultative itinerant services for children, ages 0to 21, who have an identified auditory impairment which adverselyaffects their performance in the classroom, or can expect to adverselyaffect their performance in the classroom.

 

Homebound Teacher

Linda Casas, linda.casas@harlandale.net

Providesdirect instruction to the student at his/her home or other site asspecified by the ARD committee. These services generally include fourhours of direct instruction weekly. Homebound services are designed forchronically ill students who are expected to be confined for any periodof time totaling at least four weeks throughout the school year, asdocumented by a physician.

 

Parent Trainer / In Home Trainer

Anita Castañeda, anita.castaneda@harlandale.net           

Promotesthe transfer of learned skills and behaviors of autistic students fromthe school to the home environment. Trains the parents of autisticchildren to assist and manage their child’s behaviors and learned skillsas identified by the ARD Committee, and specified in the child’s IEPgoals and objectives.

 

Occupational Therapist

Physical Therapist

Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments

Tim Poynter, timothy.poynter@harlandale.net

Providesdirect and/or consultative special education services relating tovision loss. Services for infants (through ECI) may be provided in theinfants' homes or childcare settings. The students range in age frombirth through 21 and may have only a visual impairment or additionaldisabilities. The cognitive levels of the students range from severelyimpaired to gifted and talented
